Cooking for Life!

Ayurveda Cooking & Nutrition Course

Ayurveda is a holistic science, which stresses on healing of body, mind and spirit through diet, lifestyle, medicinal herbs, and revitalizing therapies.

Ayurveda cooking refers to the method of cooking in which several ingredients are combined to prepare food that ensures optimal health of body, mind and soul as well.

Food plays an important role in our health and fitness. According to Ayurveda, cooking is not just about palatable food and flavourful dishes; rather it is the key to continuous good health.

Choosing the freshest   foods, the best herbs & spices and the correct cooking method are all important to make sure you get the maximum joy and benefits from your food.

Nutrient loss is a consequence of nearly every cooking process be it Vegan or Non Vegan. Exposure to heat, light or oxygen will alter the nutrients found in food, and cooking methods that involve water often reduce the amounts of nutrients, as these get ‘washed out’ and left behind, leaving   few Nutrition’s for our bodies.
Surprisingly, the way you cook your food has a major effect on the amount of nutrients in it.
The topics we cover in our “Ayurveda & Nutrition Cooking  course 1” include:
Syllabus:

  • Introduction to Ayurveda
  • Understanding your Prakriti  (body type) and choosing the correct foods for you.
  • Concept of Agni (digestive fire) & Ama (biological toxins)

YIN YOGA

April 8 2018 – (full)

May 20 2018 (full)

June 17 2018

Yin Yoga is a very slow and gentle but also very deep penetrating style of Yoga that is a perfect complimentary practice to Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga or any other form of “yang” like, energetic, physical practice.
Yin Yoga has a variety of incredible benefits:

On a physical level:
Fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds all our muscles, bones and organs and forms our ligaments and tendons, can tighten around weaker parts of the body (resulting from previous injury, postural problems or emotional trauma), causing this body part to feel tight and difficult to open up through a regular Yoga practice.
These tissues need a different approach to being gently stressed, soften and worked out. Yin Yoga uses a variety of postures, mostly on the floor, that can be held for longer periods of time, using gravity rather than muscle force, achieving a therapeutic affect on joints, ligaments and tendons.

On an energetic level:
Each posture also works on an energetic level on the Nadis (or Meridians) of the body, which are thought to be situated inside the fascia, and can have a similar effect to a Shiatsu treatment or Acupuncture.
Chakra work can also be done through Yin Yoga.

On a meditative level:
Each posture is held for several minutes. The nature of the postures and the time spent in them provide a great opportunity to practice mindfulness, breath awareness and meditation.
